Cooking Demonstrations & Lectures
My short cooking demonstrations (45 minutes to 1½ hours) are the perfect way to enhance a culinary conference, festival, celebratory event, staff appreciation, farm market day, or staff lunch learning program. I can bring my demonstration to your location, or offer the use of a commercial kitchen facility. Tailoring the menu to suit the occasion, I will demonstrate quick fresh recipes, new techniques, and healthy ingredients with a relaxed and entertaining style.
I can also be engaged as a public speaker on local food, seasonal food, and healthy eating.

Kids’ Cooking Classes
Cooking Camps for Children Aged 7 to 14
For aspiring chefs and for children who love to cook, my half-day cooking camps are a perfect fit. Filled with seasonal foods, age-appropriate cooking techniques, and fun food-related games, my children’s cooking camps will help your child become more skilled, safe, and confident in the kitchen. In camp, participants will learn how to safely use the stove, how to properly measure and mix for great baking results, and how to make healthy and delicious recipes that bring inspiration and delight to the cook. Older children will also learn basic knife skills. Cooking camps are taught in a commercial kitchen facility at the St Michael’s University-School campus and are taught once or twice a year at one of the following times: Spring Break Camp, Summer Camp (1st week in July), or Winter Camp.
Interested in other types of cooking classes for your child? I offer private and group classes as well.

“Heidi is a fantastic teacher. Her warm personality made her students at Tsartlip First Nation feel comfortable right away. Her in-depth knowledge of cooking and her ability to assess each individual’s skill level allows her to teach a multi-level cooking class with many menu options. Heidi can explain any recipe in understandable and manageable steps. The group came away with the skills they had been eager to learn. Best of all, Heidi’s food tastes fantastic! Everyone was impressed and wanted her back.”

“Heidi seems to be able to teach eight different
things at once and yet still answer your questions and offer tastes and smells
of exotica. She will even stop to share
a tip on how to get young kids to eat kale!”
